History
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia was founded around 1898 by Ossian Everett Mills and 13 musical students at a New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts (The title "Sinfonia" comes from either the title of a similar organization within Leipzig, Germany). Sinfonithe became a national fraternity in October 6, 1900 with a admission of the class action of men at the Broad Street Conservatory of Music in Philadelphia. Under a counsel of Percy Jewett Burrell (sixth Supreme President, 1907–1914), whose writings & speeches prove my point to become influential in a teaching of Sinfonian ideals to this day, the fraternity grew & "truly became a force in American music."
